November 2008:  Jurong Shipyard has awarded the cable management and supply contract for the construction of Seadrill 14 ultra deep water semi-submersible rig to Cables International, Asia Pacific’s leading supplier of specialty cables, in partnership with Prysmian Cables.

This is the fourth in a series of semi-submersible projects awarded to Cables International, following Seadrill 8, Seadrill 9 and Seadrill 13. Cables International will continue to provide its expertise in cables management and supply commencing Q2 2009 and continuing through to vessel completion in 2011.

Scheduled for delivery in December 2011, the 6th generation ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig will be built based on the Friede & Goldman Ex-D design. It will have specifications identical to the three deepwater semisubmersible drilling rigs ordered by Seadrill from Jurong Shipyard. The first semi-submersible rig, the West Sirius was delivered to Seadrill on schedule in the first quarter of 2008.
