Singapore, August 2007: Peregrine II is a DNV Class 1A1 Drilling Vessel, EO, Heldk, Ice 1-B. The ship’s design is IHC Gusto BV, Pelican Class, DP, self-propelled, ice-strengthened drillship. It is presently in a Singapore shipyard undergoing upgrade and refurbishment.
Cables International Singapore was recently awarded the cables supply contract for the multi-million $ refurbishment and upgrade of Frontier Drilling’s Peregrine II drillship.
Prior to award, Cables International’s cable engineers worked closely with Frontier Drilling personnel providing technical advice and support allowing Frontier to select the correct cables fit for purpose.

Post-upgrade, Peregrine II will have the capability to drill in up to 5,000 feet of water with a conventional sub-sea BOP, and in up to 9,000 feet of water utilizing a surface BOP. The existing DP system will be replaced with a Simrad Kongsberg system. Other equipment additions will include a Sense EDM Active Heave draworks; Maritime Hydraulics DDM-750 top drive; 4 x 2,200 horsepower Wirth 7,500 psi mud pumps; and 6 x EMD, 20 cylinder 5,500 horsepower engines. Crew quarters capacity will be increased from 99 to 120 and deck load will be increased from 7,500 to 11,000 tons.
